1 Bayer Leverkusen player each Premier League big 6 club should sign

Bayer Leverkusen are officially the new Bundesliga champions. The glory of that accomplishment is huge, but it also brings a whole new challenge - fending off interest from Europe's elite.

Having waltzed their way through Germany's best this season, Xabi Alonso's side have attracted quite the spotlight and their top performers are no longer the secrets they once were.

Here's one Bayer Leverkusen player each of the Premier League's top six should be looking at.

Arsenal - Alejandro Grimaldo

Mikel Arteta has turned Arsenal into a real unit with few weaknesses, but one area of concern is at left-back. Oleksandr Zinchenko has been guilty of mixed performances, while centre-back Jakub Kiwior has yet to impress when asked to play in the unfamiliar position.

Over in Leverkusen, Alejandro Grimaldo has been on an absolute tear this season, leading the team in assists and even climbing towards the top of the goal charts as he consistently pops up in the right positions to impact a game.

He does still have three years left on his contract, but considering Leverkusen picked Grimaldo up on a free transfer last summer, they might not demand an enormous fee to part ways with the 28-year-old.

Chelsea - Victor Boniface

If Chelsea need one thing, it's a striker who knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. It's a simple request but one the Blues have struggled to address for the best part of a decade.

Leverkusen have shared their goals around the team but that may only be the case because Victor Boniface missed close to three months through injury. His goal in the 5-0 drubbing of Werder Bremen was his 11th in just 18 games, and he also picked up his ninth assist for good measure.

At only 23 years old, Boniface still fits into the Chelsea project and could be the missing link to take Mauricio Pochettino's side to the next level.

Liverpool - Piero Hincapie

A left-sided defender seems to be Liverpool's priority this summer, and conveniently, Leverkusen have one of the best around in Piero Hincapie.

A centre-back who is comfortable out on the left, Hincapie has been linked with both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur for a while now, and that's no coincidence. The 22-year-old Ecuador international already has over 100 appearances for Leverkusen to his name and has earned a reputation as one of the top young defenders in Europe.

Virgil van Dijk is not getting any younger and Ibrahima Konate is yet to shake off concerns about his fitness record, so someone like Hincapie would be a smart signing - particularly if the next manager wants to play a three-man defence like Ruben Amorim does.

Man City - Florian Wirtz

Right now, Manchester City don't need Florian Wirtz at all. They'd probably be best moving for right-back Jeremie Frimpong instead. However, it won't be long until they are crying out for somebody like Wirtz.

Kevin De Bruyne turns 33 in June, while Bernardo Silva's never-ending quest for an amicable departure from City could come soon before his contract expires in 2026. In the current squad, only Phil Foden is equipped to replace the duo.

Wirtz would be an ungodly expensive signing, but that's how it goes when you're looking at a 20-year-old who could dominate Europe for the next decade. He's a great goalscorer and an impressive playmaker who could fill the imminent void in City's midfield.

Man Utd - Jonathan Tah

There are a lot of problems for Manchester United to fix this summer. They need cover for Rasmus Hojlund and could be tempted to move for Leverkusen's Patrik Schick, while they could do with someone like Granit Xhaka in midfield assuming they get this version of the former Arsenal man.

It's in defence that United find their biggest concern, however. Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire could both leave this summer, leaving behind an injury-hit Lisandro Martinez to go alongside Victor Lindelof. Someone like Jonathan Tah could be a really smart signing.

Tah, 28, has long been tipped for the top and, after a few down years, established himself as a real leader in Leverkusen's defence this year, and the fact that he is entering the final 12 months of his contract should make this an easy move for United to make.

Tottenham - Robert Andrich

It might not be a glamorous move, but Tottenham don't need glamour right now. They need reliable bodies in midfield, and Robert Andrich could provide that.

A tough-tackling late bloomer whose first taste of Bundesliga football came in 2021, 29-year-old Andrich boasts one of the best engines in Germany. National team boss Julian Nagelsmann correctly described him as a "destroyer" because of his love of the ugly side of the game.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is expected to leave Spurs this summer and Andrich, who is far from the most expensive player in the Leverkusen squad, would be a wise replacement.
