Alexis Mac Allister's agent confirms stance on Liverpool future amid Real Madrid links
- Mac Allister will remain at Liverpool next season despite rumours linking him to Madrid
- Player's father and agent has confirmed the midfielder's plans
- Argentinian made the move to Anfield just last season after leaving Brighton
Alexis Mac Allister's father and agent has confirmed that the midfielder will remain at Liverpool next season, despite rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid.
The Argentinian, who made the move to Anfield just last summer after leaving Brighton & Hove Albion, was reported to be the subject of interest from Real Madrid amid claims of a bargain release clause in his contract, although he did his best to distance himself from the speculation earlier this summer.
While the idea of a move to Madrid has always seemed far-fetched, Mac Allister's father Carlos, who also acts as his agent, firmly put an end to suggestions the midfielder could leave Liverpool this summer.
"Alexis is performing very well at Liverpool, and this is the important thing to say at the moment," he told Egyptian outlet MSR.
"There are no negotiations from Real Madrid with Alexis, and the player will continue with Liverpool next season. If future offers arrive to sign Alexis, we will discuss them with Liverpool's management first."
Mac Allister will now remain a key part of Liverpool's midfielder under new manager Arne Slot, who will have to decide how to use the Argentina international.
While usually seen as a traditional central midfielder, Mac Allister often ended up playing in a deeper role under former Reds boss Jurgen Klopp and could continue in that position this year under Slot.
A first glimpse of Slot's preferred setup will be seen during Liverpool's pre-season tour of the United States. The Reds are set to face Real Betis, Arsenal, Manchester United and Sevilla before returning to Merseyside.
Mac Allister may be unavailable for a large part of the tour, as he heads off on a break after helping Argentina to Copa America glory this summer.
