Manchester United forward Amad Diallo has vowed to come back stronger after confirming on social media that he'll be out injured "for some time".

The 22-year-old's breakthrough at Old Trafford has been one of the rare high points of another exceptionally disappointing season for the 13-time Premier League winners.

Ruben Amorim confirmed in his press conference on Friday that United had suffered a number of injury blows during the week, but declined to provide any names in the build-up to the clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

It was subsequently revealed that Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer had all picked up some kind of injury, before news broke on Saturday afternoon that Amad could miss the rest of the season with an ankle ligament tear.

Taking to social media, the Ivorian told United's supporters that he will spend a period of time on the sidelines, but did stop short of ruling himself out for the remainder of the campaign.

Extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season," Amad wrote. "Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury.

"I will come back stronger than ever!! Time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for 🫶 ❤️"

Amad has scored six Premier League goals this season, including vitally important goals at Manchester City and Liverpool as well as a hat-trick in the comeback 3-1 win over Southampton, and has also provided six assists.

He has become one of Amorim's most important players, starring in an advanced role after coming into the team as a wing-back, but must now watch on as the Portuguese head coach thinks up ways to adapt the balance of his side in his absence.

Marcus Rashford and Antony have left the club on loan while Mason Mount remains injured and unable to play, meaning January signing Patrick Dorgu, signed primarily to play at left wing-back, could be asked to operate in a role similar to the one he played at Lecce for the first half of the Serie A season.
