Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has taken to social media to offer an exciting update on his bid to return from his ankle injury.

Amad, second on both the scoring and assist charts for United this year, was just establishing himself as a key part of Ruben Amorim's setup when he went down with an ankle injury in February, which was quickly reported as a season-ending issue.

Earlier this month, however, Amorim confessed he had hope that Amad would be able to make his comeback before the end of the campaign.

The 22-year-old has now added to the growing excitement by posting an image on social media accompanied by a timer and a smiley face emoji.

Amorim's previous comment suggested Amad may be available for United's run-in in May but the winger has now teased a quicker return to action, which would come as a huge boost to a Red Devils side which has struggled in his absence.

United find themselves 13th in the Premier League standings, just three points clear of West Ham in 16th, but are also battling to secure a Europa League victory which would hand them an unlikely spot in next season's Champions League.

The Red Devils face Lyon in the quarter-finals in mid-April, which may come too soon for Amad, but there is hope he could return in time to play a role in the later stages of the competition.
