Amad Diallo turns down 'two top clubs' to extend Man Utd contract

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has agreed a new long-term contract with the club, according to multiple reports.
Amad has been a shining light in an otherwise difficult season for United, grabbing a chance presented to him by former interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy and continuing to flourish under the leadership of Ruben Amorim.
The 22-year-old Ivorian was due to be out of contract at the end of this season, although the club retained an option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.
But rather than trigger the option, United have skipped straight to a new contract. ESPN reports that terms are agreed on a five and a half year deal that will run until 2030.
Fabrizio Romano adds that the paperwork will be signed on Thursday and that Amad, who has been eligible to speak with other sides since 1 January, turned down "two top clubs" to stay at Old Trafford. There is no one-year option on the contract this time around.
If he stays for the duration of the contract, Amad will spend his peak years in United colours. He will be 11 days shy of his 28th birthday when it is due to expire and will have been at the club for a decade overall, having joined from Atalanta as an unknown teenager in October 2020.
It has taken the player a little bit of time to make his mark, initially handed a first-team debut by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in February 2021 and scoring his maiden goal the following month. Loans to Rangers and Sunderland followed, the latter being particularly successful, but a pre-season injury hampered his progress back in Manchester in the first half of 2023/24.
Amad did work his way into the team under Erik ten Hag towards the end of last season and was a bright performer in this season's Community Shield, but he again fell out of favour and only really hit his stride again since the Dutchman's departure
Amad has 13 goals and assists to his name so far this season, with the majority of those coming since the start of November. He has started all but one of United’s last ten Premier League games and scored the equalising goal that secured an invaluable point against Liverpool last time out.
