Arne Slot revealed he wasn't happy with Liverpool's defending despite securing a 3-0 victory over Manchester United in the final outing of their pre-season tour of the United States.

Goals from Fabio Carvalho, Curtis Jones and Kostas Tsimikas proved enough for the Reds to claim a summer win over Erik ten Hag's side, who created plenty of chances but were kept out by goalkeepers Caoimhin Kelleher and Vitezslav Jaros.

The victory continued Slot's unbeaten start at Liverpool following successes over Real Betis and Arsenal but Slot admitted his side conceded too many chances for him to be completely enthused by their performance.

Asked if he was pleased with most aspects of his side's win, Slot told the club's website: Yes, I was - but not with all of them.

"We are very happy with the result, we scored some really nice goals. But I don't think we had enough control over the game because United were threatening us more than a few times. It's a 3-0 win but the score could have been different tonight as well."

On the tour, he added: "Very positive, I think. Of course the results, that's where everybody is looking at. But players stayed fit and they are able to perform in the way we want, so [a] high-intensity game.

"We saw some great goals during this tour, some great build-up situations and I see them working really, really hard not to concede. Like I said, today I think we gave away too many chances, United deserved more than a 3-0 loss. But it's also our quality that we do score our own chances."

Liverpool's final pre-season outing comes at Anfield next week when they take on Spanish outfit Sevilla before their Premier League campaign gets underway at Ipswich Town.
