Liverpool manager Arne Slot has revealed midfielder Curtis Jones is an injury doubt for Sunday's trip to face Manchester United.
Jones missed the 2-0 win over Brentford after picking up a muscle injury in training. The trio of Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai started the game, with Wataru Endo and Harvey Elliott also coming off the bench.
After the match, Slot admitted Jones faces a race against time to recover before the trip to Old Trafford.
"It's going to be close," Slot said of Jones. "It's always difficult to see how an injury evolves during the upcoming week.
"He won't be out for a long time but it will be close for him to be here next week. But I'm quite sure he will try to do everything to be ready for next week. It's not a big injury."
Liverpool are one of just four teams with a perfect record in the Premier League this season and will put that honour on the line when they face Erik ten Hag's United next weekend. Despite the Red Devils' recent defeat to Brighton, defender Virgil van Dijk is well aware of the significance of that fixture.
"It's a good start," Van Dijk told Premier League Productions. "We've got to build on it and be ready for a big one next week.
"I remember a game here [at Anfield] we beat Manchester United 7–0. We weren't in the best situation.
"Many thought it could have gone their way. These games are special. It could change a lot."
