Arsenal have announced the signing of Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto on a season-long loan.

Neto joins the Gunners after two successful seasons on the south coast, making 32 appearances for the Cherries in the last campaign. His move to Arsenal became possible after Bournemouth announced the arrival of Kepa Arrizabalaga - who made the move from Chelsea towards the end of the transfer window.

The 35-year-old will replace Aaron Ramsdale as a backup keeper at the Emirates, however he will be unable to play in Arsenal's Carabao Cup fixtures after featuring for Bournemouth in the competition before their loss to West Ham on Wednesday.

He will, though, be eligible for FA Cup and UEFA Champions League fixtures.

The Gunners turned their attention to the Brazilian after allowing Ramsdale to move to Southampton.

They welcome Neto on loan after failing to secure the signature of Espanyol's Joan Garcia and expect the former Cherries star to act as understudy to David Raya at the Emirates.

Raya made the move to north London just last summer after departing Brentford on an initial loan and quickly became Mikel Arteta's top choice between the sticks. His arrival saw Ramsdale knocked off the top position at Arsenal, despite the Gunners boss repeatedly assuring that neither goalkeeper was considered as a starter.

Ramsdale went on to make just 11 appearances during the 2023/24 campaign, whereas Raya played 41 times, featuring in Arsenal's Champions League run as well as their race for the Premier League title.
