Arsenal and Newcastle United have joined the growing list of suitors of Sporting CP winger Francisco Trincao, a report has claimed.
Trincao, 25, has dazzled since joining the club back in 2022, reigniting his career after disappointing spells with Barcelona and Wolverhampton Wanderers, and is expected to be on the move this summer. Manchester United and Manchester City both chasing his signature courtesy of their links with Sporting - head coach Ruben Amorim and incoming sporting director Hugo Viana respectively.
Trincao has nine goals and 15 assists in all competitions this season, and that form has attracted plenty of suitors. The Mirror state Arsenal and Newcastle are the latest to express an interest.
Amorim will hope that his long-standing bond with Trincao, who he first worked with at Braga before a reunion at Sporting, will hand him a boost in his bid to secure a summer deal, although the Portuguese side have been working to extend his contract for several months now.
Trincao's deal runs until 2027, so Sporting are in no immediate rush to make a decision, although they recognise an agreement needs to be struck soon before Trincao's value starts to drop.
Record are the latest to discuss United's interest in Trincao but note a potential complication from Barcelona, who sold the winger to Sporting for just €10m after a successful loan in 2023.
Barca have the option to buy Trincao back for around €25m and also hold a 50% sell-on clause. While they are not believed to have any active interest in signing him, they could join the race if it gives them the chance to then sell on for an immediate profit.
Trincao is not the only Sporting star linked with a move away this summer. Striker Viktor Gyokeres is also on the radars of Europe's elite and is expected to be available for well below his €100m release clause.
