Arsenal predicted lineup vs Liverpool - Premier League
- Arsenal are set to face Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday
- Gunners will hope to bounce back from a defeat to Bournemouth
- Mikel Arteta could be without Bukayo Saka, Riccardo Calafiori and Martin Odegaard
Arsenal will be hoping to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth when they face Liverpool on Sunday, but their mounting injury crisis may just impact their hopes of success.
It's been a tough week for the north London side - who fell to defeat at the Vitality Stadium before relying on an own goal to better Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League just days later.
They've been without their captain and creative force Martin Odegaard since September's international break and have been forced to endure recent fixtures without the likes of Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori. William Saliba is also ruled out to face Liverpool after picking up a suspension against Bournemouth.
Here's the team Mikel Arteta could pick for Sunday's clash with Liverpool.
Arsenal predicted lineup vs Liverpool (4-3-3)
GK: David Raya - Since his arrival at the Emirates Stadium last season, former Brentford shot-stopper Raya has been superb in goal. Arsenal's undisputed number one.
RB: Ben White - Arteta admitted that his decision to haul off White from the Champions League clash with Shakhtar midweek was purely precautional to avoid the defender being shown a red card.
CB: Gabriel Magalhaes - Will step up to lead Arsenal's defence in the absence of Saliba. Should be a real threat from set pieces.
CB: Jakub Kiwior - With Calafiori struggling, Arteta may have to turn to Kiwior again despite his horrendous gaffe against Bournemouth. Won't be looking forward to facing Mohamed Salah or Darwin Nunez.
LB: Oleksandr Zinchenko - Has only played 78 minutes of Premier League football this season but may be forced to start with Timber and Calafiori serious doubts to participate.
CM: Thomas Partey - Partey impressed during Arsenal's clash with Shakhtar and is expected to make the starting lineup when his side face Liverpool. His recent outings have been significantly better than those at the start of the season.
CM: Declan Rice - Turning over possession will be key for Arsenal and no player is better at breaking up play than Rice. Will hope to get forward and cause Liverpool's midfield problems too.
CM: Leandro Trossard - Trossard's versatility could lead to a start in the 'number 10' role, ahead of summer signing Mikel Merino.
RW: Bukayo Saka - There are major question marks over Saka's fitness but he's a guaranteed starter if Arteta is given the green light from the medical team. Raheem Sterling is on standby.
ST: Kai Havertz - Havertz has registered six goals so far this season, four of which have come in the Premier League. Must make an impression on a stoic Liverpool defence that has shipped just three league goals.
LW: Gabriel Martinelli - Arsenal's front three seem pretty set in stone, with Martinelli the last to occupy a spot in Arteta's attacking lineup. The Brazilian could cause problems for Trent Alexander-Arnold with his pace but must improve his final ball.
