The Premier League title race is well and truly out of Arsenal's hands but the Gunners are aiming to keep pace with league leaders Liverpool this weekend.

With Arne Slot's Reds at home to Ipswich Town on Saturday, Arsenal won't be expecting favours as they seek to close the gap, but they must avoid another slip-up when they visit Wolverhampton Wanderers. Their frustrating draw with Aston Villa last weekend has left them six points behind Liverpool having played a game more.

Arsenal haven't made the most convincing start to the new year but they did almost guarantee their place in the Champions League last 16 with victory over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday. A fifth home game on the spin yielded a comfortable win and they will be hopeful of a similarly routine encounter against the Old Gold on Saturday afternoon.

Here is how Arsenal could line up for a crucial clash in the Midlands.

GK: David Raya - Despite featuring for the duration against Dinamo, Raya more or less had the night off. The Croatian side didn't force him into a single save and mustered an xG tally of just 0.13.

RB: Jurrien Timber - Timber played centre-back against Villa last weekend but could return to his orthodox right-back berth on Saturday. Arteta may not want to overcomplicate things after a midweek clean sheet.

CB: Jakub Kiwior - Admittedly the Poland international wasn't faced with the most formidable foes, but Kiwior produced a strong performance against Dinamo midweek. The left-footer lined up on the right-hand side of the centre-back pairing.

CB: Gabriel - The Brazilian is without his regular partner William Saliba due to injury but that won't faze the experienced Arsenal defender. He will be tasked with keeping the powerful Jorgen Strand Larsen quiet.

LB: Oleksandr Zinchenko - Starts have been few and far between for Zinchenko this season but he could turn out again this weekend following an injury to Myles Lewis-Skelly. He produced a cultured display midweek.

CM: Martin Odegaard - Odegaard ended his 13-game goal drought against Dinamo with a late tap-in and that will do the skipper's confidence the world of good heading to Molineux. He will provide Arsenal's creative spark without their talismanic winger Bukayo Saka.

CM: Thomas Partey - The Ghanaian has not entirely convinced in recent outings but would welcome a return to midfield on Saturday having been used in his new-look right-back role against Villa.

CM: Declan Rice - Rice has rediscovered his spark over the past few weeks and scored his first Champions League goal on Wednesday. Similar to Odegaard, the confidence should be flowing for the midfielder.

RW: Gabriel Martinelli - Saka's absence has been sorely felt but Martinelli has done a fine imitation since the Englishman's injury. The 23-year-old scored last weekend and assisted on Wednesday evening.

ST: Kai Havertz - Despite coming under fire for his wastefulness during recent matches, Havertz has now scored in successive games. He also produced a goal and assist in the reverse fixture with Wolves on the opening day of the season.

LW: Leandro Trossard - Trossard is often Arsenal's provider of clutch goals and the Belgian will be eyeing another seismic strike should things get sticky against Wolves.
