Arsenal reveal Raheem Sterling squad number
- Arsenal confirm Raheem Sterling will wear 30 this season
- Winger made the switch to north London on deadline day
- 30 previously worn by Matt Turner and Eddie Nketiah
Raheem Sterling will wear the number 30 shirt at Arsenal this season after making the switch from Chelsea on deadline day.
The England international's move from west to north London was confirmed in the early hours of Saturday morning after Arsenal's pursuit of the forward went right to the wire. Sterling's summer move saw him reunite with Mikel Arteta, with whom he had previously worked at Manchester City.
Arsenal have now confirmed that he will wear the number 30 during the 2024/25 season - a shirt previously worn by goalkeeper Matt Turner ahead of his departure last summer. Fellow forward Eddie Nketiah had also donned the number 30 in previous seasons, before switching to 14.
While 14 remains unused after Nketiah's move to Crystal Palace on deadline day, Arsenal have opted to hand Sterling 30 instead. The number 10 shirt also remains free after Emile Smith Rowe made the switch to Fulham.
Sterling, who wore the number 17 and then 7 during his time at Chelsea, is most known for the latter, having worn the 7 shirt over as many seasons at Manchester City.
While fans have not yet seen Sterling in action for the Gunners, whose last game before the international break came in the form of a 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion, supporters can now look forward to his first putting in the 30 shirt.
Arsenal's next fixture, which may well be Sterling's first, is the highly anticipated north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on September 15.
