Arsenal are interested in Bayern Munich's Leroy Sane and could make a move for the German winger this summer, according to reports.

The 28-year-old has just one year left on his current contract at the Allianz Arena and with no extension agreement currently in place, the Gunners could swoop in and offer him a summer move.

Sane could make a return to the Premier League as Arsenal are 'very closely' monitoring the winger, as per Sky Sport Germany.

If he were to move to the Emirates Stadium, Sane would be reunited with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta. The Catalan played a major role in City's backroom staff during the German's own time at the Etihad Stadium, working as Pep Guardiola's assistant manager for three years.

During this time, he helped in the development of players such as Sane, while also winning two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups.

Ahead of Bayern's Champions League meeting with Arsenal in April, during which he scored a vital goal on their way to victory, Sane said: "Thanks to [Arteta] and his ideas, I improved quickly. I still have them in my head and try to implement the ideas in my game."

However, the report adds that Sane is more likely to stay at Bayern and sign a contract extension rather than leave for Arsenal as things stand.

Arsenal made their first new signing of the summer window on Monday, announcing the arrival of Italy star Riccardo Calafiori. The defender has joined the squad for their pre-season tour of the United States, forming a vital role in Arteta's impressive backline.

It's expected that Arsenal will now look to bring in reinforcements in attack, hinting towards a possible move for Sane. The German international made 42 appearances for Bayern last season, registering 10 goals and 13 assists.

Sane, who played mostly as a right winger in the last campaign, would face tough competition if he were to move to the Emirates. England star Bukayo Saka often occupies the right wing for Arsenal, scoring 20 goals in 47 appearances last season.
