- Aston Villa enjoyed a memorable 2023/24 season under Unai Emery
- Midlands club qualified for the Champions League with fourth-placed finish
- Villans have made a number of summer signings already
Champions League football will grace Villa Park for the first time since 1983 thanks to one man: Unai Emery.
The Spaniard leads Aston Villa into Europe's premier continental competition off the back of an exceptional 2023/24 season. The Ollie Watkins-inspired Villans finished above the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham en route to fourth place, playing some breathless football in the process.
Villa supporters have already been handed some exciting new signings in preparation for their return to Europe's top table. As a result, there's been plenty of movement in terms of squad numbers.
Here are Aston Villa's 2024/25 squad numbers.

Jhon Duran may have failed to secure a move away from Villa Park in the summer, but he does have a new shirt number. The powerful forward is now Villa's number nine having previously worn the #24 - now donned by impressive new signing Amadou Onana.
Villa opted to loan out several of their other summer arrivals, but Ross Barkley (#6), Jaden Philogene (#19), and Ian Maatsen (#22) have remained in the West Midlands.
Emiliano Martinez has given up the number one shirt in favour of the "really special" #23. It's the shirt he's worn for Argentina, and is also the date of his birth.

What numbers can Premier League players wear?
Premier League players are blessed with an array of choices when it comes to selecting their number. As long as they select a number between 1 and 99 that isn't already taken by a teammate, they're onto a winner.
However, players usually tend to opt for numbers 1 to 11 where possible, or as close to that as they can get. There are exceptions though, exemplified by Boubacar Kamara at Aston Villa who selected number 44 when he joined from Marseille in 2022.
Can Premier League players change squad numbers?
Premier League clubs must register their squad at the beginning of the new season, usually just after the end of the summer transfer window. The deadline is 14 September this time around. Each player must be given a squad number at that point, and players cannot change until squads are registered again at the end of the January window.
However, before that summer deadline, players can change numbers if they wish. Once that first registration occurs, players can only change numbers if they move clubs or they choose a number that is already vacant at their club.
