RB Leipzig have rejected a bid from Barcelona that falls short of their €60m (£51m) valuation of Euro 2024 winner Dani Olmo, reports in Germany state.

Despite only becoming a starter in the latter stages of the competitions - thanks to the injury suffered by Pedri in the quarter-finals - Olmo proved to be a key man for Spain in their Euro 2024 triumph earlier in the summer. The attacking midfielder bagged three goals and two assists for his nation, including the winner in the semi-final clash with favourites France in Munich.

Olmo has been heavily linked with a move away from his current club RB Leipzig, with Barcelona, Manchester City, Manchester United and Bayern Munich all holding an interest in his services.

Olmo's suitors have, however, missed their window to trigger the €60m release clause written into his RB Leipzig contract - that particulat detail of his contract expired on July 20.

90min revealed at the beginning of July that Barcelona had made a verbal offer for Olmo, who they believe wants to join them above any other interested party, and Sky Germany report that an offer has now been formalised and rejected by Leipzig.

The bid is described to have been 'well below Leizpig's expectations', with Spanish media suggesting the offer comprised of €40m in guaranteed payments plus potential performance related add-ons tallying up to €20m.

The initial €40m, however, would only be received in instalments paid from January 2025 - meaning Leizpig would receive no compensation during the player's first six months in Catalunya. And the add-ons would be triggered in two instalments, paying €10m if they won two La Liga titles and another €10m if they won two UEFA Champions Leagues.

Reports in France, meanwhile, suggest City have also made their first move for Olmo - though the player, whose representatives have met with Barcelona to discuss the terms of a six-year contract, would prefer to return home to Spain.

Olmo previously spent time in Barcelona's La Masia academy before leaving to join Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb at the age of 16.
