Report: Barcelona include Real Madrid target on free agent shortlist
- Barcelona targeting Real Madrid target Alphonso Davies
- Canadian left-back's contract with Bayern Munich expires in 2025
- Man Utd recently tipped with interest
Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies is one of a number of free transfer targets for Barcelona in next year's summer window, according to a report.
The Canada international has long been linked with a move to Barca's Clasico rivals Real Madrid, though talk of a potential switch to the Bernabeu has slowed in recent months.
While Davies' contract at Bayern expires in the summer, Madrid instead extended current left-back Ferland Mendy's deal until 2027 back in September.
Now, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, the 23-year-old flier has emerged as a potential free addition to Hansi Flick's Barca squad that currently sit at the top of the La Liga table by three points after winning eight of their first nine games.
Barca's financial difficulties in recent years have seen the Catalan giants pursue cheap deals in the market and Davies is not the only star with an expiring contract they are keeping an eye on.
Bayer Leverkusen's Jonathan Tah, who was a target for Davies' Bayern during the summer, is also appreciated by Barca, while deals could yet be pursued for Atletico Madrid defender Reinildo and Lille attacker Jonathan David, who is also a Canada international.
The arrival of either Davies or Reinildo would bolster Flick's options at left-back, with current incumbent Alejandro Balde's only competition coming from 22-year-old youth product Gerard Martin.
However, if Barca want to sign Davies, they may have to bat away competition from Premier League giants Manchester United. The Red Devils swooped for both Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern during the summer and have made their interest in Davies known, though they aren't thought to be overly confident of winning the race for his signature.
