Porto have made contact with Barcelona over midfielder Pablo Torre as they prepare to part ways with Nico Gonzalez, reports have confirmed.

Manchester City have agreed to sign 23-year-old Nico on deadline day, with the former Barcelona midfielder moving to the Etihad Stadium in a deal worth around £50m. Reports claim Barcelona hold a sell-on clause for Nico worth as much as 40%.

The La Liga side are, therefore, expected to profit from Nico's proposed move to City, but they are set to get the chance to make even more money as SPORT reveal Porto are chasing Torre as his replacement.

Porto have plenty of targets in mind but see Torre as another potential bargain from Barcelona. The 21-year-old has managed just 373 minutes of action across 12 appearances for Hansi Flick this season but does have four goals and three assists to his name.

It is stressed that Flick does not want to lose any players before the transfer window closes later on Monday, but the Barcelona boss understands the competition for minutes in midfield could force Torre to explore his options.

Barcelona have been quiet on deadline day after hope of signing Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United was ended by a move to Aston Villa.

The likes of Andreas Christensen, Frenkie de Jong and Ansu Fati have all been linked with exits but, with the clock winding down, the trio all seem set to remain in Catalonia until the summer at least.
