Barcelona predicted lineup vs Valencia - La Liga
- Barcelona face a resurgent Valencia in La Liga on Sunday night
- Hansi Flick likely to make another change in goal
- Players will earn rests in midweek
Hansi Flick has seen plenty, but even he admitted that Barcelona's comeback triumph over Benfica was unlike anything he's experienced before.
Barca's victory in Lisbon was one of those unexplainable successes. It was a contest Flick's side had no right winning, but Raphinha's last-gasp strike saw the Catalonians overturn a 4-2 deficit. This was no 'Remontada' in terms of significance, but the win will allow them to relax somewhat on Wednesday night with their place in the Champions League round of 16 secure.
Thus, there aren't expected to be many changes from Tuesday night's team, with Flick reluctant to chop and change in recent weeks.
Here's how Barcelona could line up against a resurgent Valencia on Sunday night.
Barcelona predicted lineup vs Valencia (4-2-3-1)
GK: Inaki Pena - Wojciech Szczesny was one of the many agents of chaos in Lisbon, and he's certainly played himself out of the team. Inaki Pena will return on Sunday.
RB: Jules Kounde - Kounde continues to find himself in dangerous positions in the final third, although he wasn't able to improve his goal tally in the week. Still, the Frenchman's been a standout performer for Barca this term.
CB: Ronald Araujo - The skipper remains vulnerable in possession and he hardly covered himself in glory on Tuesday night. However, Barcelona have committed to him and he'll keep his place at the heart of Flick's defence.
CB: Pau Cubarsi - Cubarsi takes on even greater responsibility in possession when he's alongside Araujo. Inigo Martinez remains absent, while Andreas Christensen has barely been seen since recovering from injury.
LB: Alejandro Balde - It's been a while since we've seen Balde at his best, but the Spanish left-back has been excellent in recent weeks and shown signs of rediscovering his pre-Achilles injury form.
CM: Marc Casado - Respite has come few and far between for Casado since his integration, but Flick should offer him a breather next week when Barcelona host Atalanta in their final league phase outing.
CM: Pedri - The joyous Spaniard played a key role in Barca's fightback across the peninsula on Tuesday, and he's said to be closing in on a contract extension which will doubtlessly come with a ridiculous release clause.
RM: Lamine Yamal - Tuesday was a rare off night for Yamal, who's still able to wreak havoc when off colour. The teenager hasn't scored in La Liga since the end of October.
AM: Gavi - Dani Olmo is a doubt with a calf injury and Fermin Lopez will be expected to get a proper run out against Atalanta. We're all enjoying Gavi's reinvention as a more advanced midfielder in Flick's set-up.
LM: Raphinha - Tuesday night's hero has so often come up trumps for Barcelona this season. Whisper it, but is the Brazilian playing himself into Ballon d'Or contention?
ST: Robert Lewandowski - The veteran forward scored twice as Barca fought back from a goal down in the reverse fixture. Lewandowski has six goals in four games against Valencia.
