Barcelona are reported to be readying an offer for Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong, with new manager Hansi Flick seemingly keen on bringing the wing-back to Camp Nou.

Frimpong, who won the Bundesliga with Leverkusen last season, is wanted by the new Barca boss Flick after an impressive campaign in Germany - during which he scored 14 goals and racked up 12 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.

The Netherlands star comes with a release clause of €40m, which Barca are not yet prepared to pay. But, according to SPORT, the club intend to negotiate and offer €30m, with €5m in add-ons.

The Spanish publication have also revealed that Flick intends to use Ansu Fari in pre-season and the returning loan player will not be included in any deal put forwad. The coach is also said to view Frimpong as a better option than Joao Cancelo, who joined on loan from Manchester City in 2023.

Cancelo has previously spoken on his desire to remain at Barca, and could still return to the club on a further loan spell.

Frimpong, comfortable anywhere on the right flank, would fit well into Flick's system and could even provide a good partner to 16-year-old prodigy Lamine Yamal. His defensive prowess is still less impressive than his attacking attributes, having played in a conventiaonl full-back just once during the 2023/24 season, but Flick remains confident that Frimpong could strengthen his right side.

Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester United and former club Manchester City have all previously been linked.
