La Liga president Javier Tebas has confirmed they are working to overturn Dani Olmo's emergency registration with Barcelona.
Olmo saw his initial registration expire on December 31 and La Liga rejected Barcelona's attempts to re-register the midfielder, pointing to the league rule stating no player could be removed and re-added to a club's squad in any single season.
Barcelona argued they had proven their financial capability to re-register Olmo before his initial licence expired and ultimately took their case to the Spanish government, who granted the Spain international a temporary registration of up to three months while they evaluate the situation and reach a concrete verdict.
"We are against his registration and we are giving the relevant resources to the necessary organisation," Tebas stated. "We ask that he not be registered, logically.
"If we believe that he should not be registered, we obviously believe that we have a chance that he will not be registered."
Several La Liga clubs have complained about the decision to award Barcelona a new registration for Olmo - a sentiment that Tebas appears to wholeheartedly agree with.
"They are right," he said. "If we as a league are filing the corresponding appeals it is because we believe that a decision has not been taken in accordance with the law as it should be."
Tebas did, however, concede clubs will not be able to contest Barcelona's results with Olmo in the side even if he is forcibly deregistered.
"In the field of sports law, when a player has a licence, and at this moment Dani Olmo has a licence to play, a match cannot be challenged, even if they may later rule in our favour," he concluded.
