Bayern Munich director admits fearing Arsenal 'slap' after latest Bundesliga embarrassment

Bayern Munich director Max Eberl says his side will need to step up if they are to gain a result against Arsenal on Tuesday after their latest humiliation in the Bundesliga.

Bayern endured a disappointing loss on Saturday when they threw away a two-goal lead and ultimately handed three points to tenth-place Heidenheim. They now sit 16 points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who look set to run away with the Bundesliga title.

Heidenheim, who were promoted from 2. Bundesliga last season, stunned the German giants in the second half. Strikes from Harry Kane and Serge Gnabry helped Bayern cruise through the first half, but a goal from Kevin Sessa and a double from Tim Kleindienst were enough to silence Thomas Tuchel's side.

Bayern are in disarray with their title reign in Germany set to end and are searching for a new manager with Tuchel having already announced his departure at the end of the season. Director Eberl, who watched on as his side fell to defeat, shared his feelings on their upcoming clash with Arsenal after the loss.

He said: "I don't give a s**t about the search for a coach. Now it's all about the Arsenal game. We'll face a team, with all respect to Heidenheim, that is a class above them.

"We have to make a proper turnaround so that we don't get a slap to the face.

"I already said after the Dortmund game that we would have a test of character in Heidenheim. We passed it in the first half and failed in the second half. Now we have the Champions League game against Arsenal. There's a lot coming up."

Bayern host Arsenal in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday before the pair clash again on 17 April.
