Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich has revealed that his uncertain future will be decided "in winter" after months of speculation linking the soon-to-be free agent with a host elite European clubs.

Kimmich has started every single match for Vincent Kompany's side this season. The versatile Germany international has exclusively lined up in midfield thus far, but is also one of the best right-backs in the world when shifted into defence.

Former Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel regularly used Kimmich in that unfavored role last season and - more pertinently - spent almost the entire campaign openly asking for a "proper holding No. 6". Despite clearly being highly valued by Kompany, the 29-year-old with a contract which expires in June 2025 has not committed his future to Bayern.

"I will not wait until summer," Kimmich recently told ZDF's Sportstudio. "I will sit down in winter and then try to see the bigger picture. And make the right decision."

Kimmich has been most frequently courted by Barcelona. Lined up as a potential replacement for Frenkie de Jong - who has been reportedly put on the transfer list - the German deep-lying playmaker refused to rule out a move to Catalonia when quizzed on the subject in October.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have all also been touted as potential destinations for the serial champion.

Reports from late November claim that Kimmich is "closer" to signing a new deal with Bayern than making a move elsewhere, but all will soon be revealed by the player himself.

Kimmich will have ample time to mull over his various options during the Bundesliga's winter break, which stretches between 20 December and 11 January for Bayern Munich. The dethroned German giants have climbed back to the summit of the Bundesliga table and can still automatically qualify for the Champions League round of 16.
