Bruno Fernandes pokes fun at England's Euro 2024 hopes

- Three Lions advanced to quarter-final with dramatic win over Slovakia
- Portugal face Slovenia on Monday
Bruno Fernandes has humorously mocked England's Euro 2024 prospects, joking that the only way the nation can defeat Portugal is in the virtual world of the PlayStation.
Portugal face Slovenia on Monday night with high confidence, having progressed from the Euro 2024 group stage with two wins and one defeat. The Three Lions, meanwhile, have already booked their spot in the final eight after a thoroughly unconvincing 2-1 win over Slovakia.
Alongside international teammate Ruben Dias, Manchester United captain Fernandes took the opportunity to ridicule Gareth Southgate's men this week during a game of EA Sports FC 24.
"The only thing I have to say is that this is the only chance England has to beat Portugal - on the PlayStation," said Fernandes on Pro Direct Soccer's YouTube channel. "We'll give you that."
Roberto Martinez's side defeated Czechia 2-1 in their first game of this year's European Championship, before trouncing Turkey 3-0, with Fernandes notably getting on the scoresheet. Portugal lost 2-0 to Georgia in their final match of Group F but qualification was already confirmed.
They face Slovenia on Monday looking to advance to the quarter-final stage, where they will face either France or Belgium if they can secure their spot.
Having been drawn on the opposite side of the bracket to England, the Three Lions will only get the chance to prove Fernandes wrong if both sides can advance all the way to the Euro 2024 final.
