New Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta will soon ramp up talks over a new contract with winger Bukayo Saka, it has been revealed.

The Gunners welcomed Berta through the door late last month and have tasked the Italian transfer guru with setting up their approach to the summer window, but there are also plenty of contract matters which need addressing soon.

Among those approaching the final two years of their contracts is Saka. Arsenal are keen to offer him fresh terms as soon as possible so as to avoid any unnecessary speculation surrounding his future, having previously had to fend off interest from Manchester City before his last extension in 2023.

Fabrizio Romano adds that Saka and his representatives are set for talks with Berta over his future to try and thrash out an extension.

There is no immediate rush to finalise an extension for Saka, but clubs are often reluctant to let their best players enter the final two years of their contracts amid fears they could be swayed to let their deals expire and depart on a free transfer.

Centre-back duo William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, like Saka, are both out of contract in 2027. The Frenchman has recently been the subject of his own speculative links to City alongside long-standing interest from Real Madrid, but he publicly reaffirmed his commitment to the Gunners in March.

Meanwhile, Saka is due to return to action in Tuesday's Premier League clash with Fulham after spending over three months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
