Bukayo Saka names England star as his toughest opponent
- Bukayo Saka has hailed Kyle Walker for his speed and strength
- Pair currently away with England at Euro 2024
- 22-year-old winger has registered one assist at tournament so far
Bukayo Saka has singled out fellow England star Kyle Walker as one of the most formidable opponents he has faced in his senior playing career.
At just 22 years old, Saka has already carved out an impressive career trajectory, with over 250 appearances for both club and country.
He has faced a number of top players during his time already, and was recently asked to name his toughest adversary.
In an interview with talkSPORT, Saka lauded Walker's defensive prowess and commented on the challenge he poses to attackers.
"I think Kyle Walker is definitely up there," Saka said. "If you ask most wingers, coming up against him is a very tough challenge."
Known for his speed, strength, and tactical awareness, Walker has established himself as a stalwart in England's defensive lineup and a key player for Manchester City in the Premier League.
Interestingly, Saka also highlighted how his perspective has evolved since frequently finding himself on the same side as Walker in the national team setup.
"Now most of the time he’s playing behind me so it’s nice to have that confidence behind you," Saka shared. "With someone so strong like that, I feel free to attack."
Despite both enjoying exceptional 2023/24 seasons, Saka and Walker have yet to make a significant impact for England at Euro 2024.
Since assisting Jude Bellingham in the Three Lions' opening match of the tournament, Saka has largely operated under the radar and there have been calls for Cole Palmer to replace him in the starting XI.
Meanwhile, Walker has found himself somewhat overshadowed by the performances of centre-back Marc Guehi in the backline.
