Chelsea have completed the signing of goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal in a deal believed to be worth £20.7m.

The Dane has put pen to paper on a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge and becomes the fourth different senior goalkeeper to sign for the club since BlueCo's takeover in 2022.

Speaking to Chelsea's club channels, the 22-year-old said: "This move is a dream come true. I am very excited to have signed for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world. I can’t wait to get to know everyone and to start playing with all my new teammates.

"It was very important for me to come here as quickly as possible and get involved as early as I could to be prepared for the new season, to learn how the manager wants to play, and to get to know everyone."

Jorgensen was born and raised in Denmark but moved to Spain when he was 14, joining Mallorca for one year before signing for Villarreal. He enjoyed a breakout 2023/24 season, making 37 appearances for the Yellow Submarine and drawing the attention of Chelsea.

"I am very happy with how the last 12 months have panned out. I am very confident in myself and I know what qualities I have," he added.

"Luckily I had the chance to show myself on the biggest stage in Spain and now I am very happy to have the chance to do that at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"I always liked watching Chelsea because I watched a lot of Petr Cech growing up, so Chelsea were one of my favourite teams to follow."
