Chelsea have confirmed the signing of England international Lucy Bronze on a two-year deal.
The defender returns to the Women's Super League after two years in Spain with Barcelona. The 32-year-old has amassed over 400 senior appearances throughout her career across a number of clubs, including Sunderland, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City and Lyon.
Throughout her two seasons with Barcelona, Bronze won two Liga F titles, two Champions League trophies, one Copa de la Reina and two Spanish Super Cups. In England, she has won every domestic honour, which includes three WSL titles.
"To know I'm a Chelsea player still feels a little bit surreal," Bronze told the club website. "It's obviously a club I know so much about and have done for such a long time. I'm really excited to be back in England. My family are so excited as well to get to more of my games.
"I'm excited to be in London, to see what the capital holds and to be at a club that is renowned for winning so many trophies."
Chelsea's general manager Paul Green added: "Lucy will bring leadership to the group. She is a serial winner and a versatile defender. She has lots of experience and a winning mentality which we feel will fit well into the squad."
Bronze becomes Chelsea's fourth signing of the summer as she follows Julia Bartel, Sandy Baltimore and Oriane Jean-Francois through the door at Stamford Bridge. This summer marks a new era for the club under new manager Sonia Bompastor as the former Lyon boss looks to build on the success of predecessor Emma Hayes.
