Victor Osimhen is set to stay at Napoli after failing to agree terms with Chelsea or Al Ahli over a move away.

The Nigeria international has been pushing for a move away from Italy all summer long but has failed to secure an exit prior to the European transfer deadline.

It is being reported that Osimhen will, for the meantime, remain at Napoli and could be omitted from Antonio Conte's first-team squad for the foreseeable future unless he agrees to a move before the Saudi Pro League deadline expires in a few days.

Al Ahli had been hopeful of coming to an agreement for Osimhen, and though their transfer window remains open, it is now less likely he will make the move to the Middle East. Al Ahli have a deal in place to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford instead.

Chelsea have a long-standing interest in Osimhen and had held talks with Napoli over various methods of acquiring the striker this summer, including as part of a swap deal with Romelu Lukaku. Though Lukaku has signed for the Partenopei on a permanent deal, Osimhen will not be heading to Stamford Bridge.

Though Osimhen will not be leaving for the time being, Napoli have strengthened themselves on deadline day with the acquisitions of Manchester United's Scott McTominay and Brighton & Hove Albion's Billy Gilmour.
