Chelsea have agreed a deal to sell Omari Hutchinson to Ipswich Town for a £22m fee, according to several credible reports.

Hutchinson spent the 2023/24 season on loan with the Tractor Boys and was one of their key players on the way to promotion from the Championship to the Premier League, contributing ten goals and six assists towards their second-place finish.

However, Hutchinson's path to a regular place back at Chelsea seemed congested, and reports earlier this summer claimed the Blues would consider selling him, though would be wary of sanctioning another loan.

Fabrizio Romano was first to reveal on Friday evening that Ipswich have agreed a total package worth £22m to re-sign Hutchinson on a permanent basis.

The deal will include a sell-on clause but Chelsea will not retain a buy-back option. Arsenal also stand to profit from the deal having sold him to the Blues back in 2022 with a sell-on clause of their own.

German side Stuttgart, who finished second in last season's Bundesliga and will compete in next year's Champions League, were also interested in Hutchinson, but he will head to Portman Road instead.

Hutchinson will leave Chelsea having made only made two appearances for the club.

Ipswich are busy gearing up for their first Premier League season in 22 years having secured back-to-back promotions all the way from League One. They have been linked with the likes of Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah and Hull City defender Jacob Greaves over the last couple of months.

Manager Kieran McKenna held talks over moves to Chelsea, Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion before deciding to stay at Ipswich. He signed a new long-term contract in May.
