Chelsea squad: Confirmed shirt numbers for 2024/25

Yet another new dawn has begun at Chelsea, with Enzo Maresca succeeding Mauricio Pochettino in the home dugout at Stamford Bridge.
Pochettino ended 2023/24 on a high note but the season was otherwise disappointing for the Blues. The former Tottenham Hotspur boss guided Chelsea into Europe for 2024/25, with Maresca's stacked squad likely to come in handy this term.
The Blues have been transfer window protagonists since the arrival of Clearlake and that was the same this summer. Chelsea's squad looks plenty different from 2023/24 following the arrival of fresh faces and departures of a whole host of Stamford Bridge residents.

Chelsea made significant moves in the transfer market and there's been movement on the shirt number front. Thiago Silva's six jersey has been assumed by Levi Colwill - previously the wearer of the club's revered number 26 shirt.
Wesley Fofana has also made a change. The Frenchman will wear the number 29 shirt having previously donned the number 33. A slight upgrade.
Summer recruit Joao Felix will wear the 14 he donned during his previous loan spell in west London and Pedro Neto has taken over Raheem Sterling's number seven jersey. Tosin Adarabioyo has claimed the number four, while new goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen will wear the number 12 shirt.

What numbers can Premier League players wear?
The Premier League rules when it comes to shirt numbers are far from strict. Any number between one and 99 is allowed as long as it is unique within the squad. 1-30 are typically taken by first-team players, although Phil Foden has kept the 47 shirt since he broke into Manchester City's senior side.
Fellow City youngster Rico Lewis holds the record for the highest number in Premier League history, donning 82. It is also traditional for goalkeepers to wear between 1-13, but not a rule. While the NFL allows for the number 0 jersey to be worn, that is not the case over in the Premier League.
Can Premier League players change squad numbers?
Premier League players can only change their squad number during pre-season or if one is sold or loaned to another club in the January transfer window.
Clubs must submit their confirmed squad list - including shirt numbers - by a specified deadline each year and numbers cannot be changed thereafter. This deadline typically arrives at the start of September following the closure of the summer transfer window. There's a similar deadline after the January window.
