Chelsea summer signing Omari Kellyman has confirmed he has suffered a serious hamstring injury.
The 18-year-old midfielder joined from Aston Villa in a £19m deal early in the summer transfer window and has been a regular in the Blues' Under-21 side, impressing in a 4-2 defeat to RB Leipzig in which he scored twice and was sent off inside 47 minutes.
Fans waiting for a glimpse of Kellyman in the senior side will have to be patient as the player took to social media to confirm he had suffered "another long hamstring injury".
Reports suggest Kellyman could miss up to two months while he recovers from his latest setback.
In November 2023, Kellyman suffered a similar hamstring injury which ended up keeping him out until late January 2024, after which he returned to score three goals in six outings for Aston Villa's Under-21s.
There had been speculation last week that Kellyman could depart Chelsea on a season-long loan, with Birmingham City touted as a potential landing spot, but nothing ever came of the rumours.
Chelsea may look to loan Kellyman out once the January transfer window arrives but may find clubs reluctant to take a risk on the teenager until he has proven his fitness.
