The conditions Barcelona must meet to re-sign Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix - report
- Barca hope to keep Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix this summer after their loan spells
- Hansi Flick confirmed as Xavi replacement as manager next season
- Duo will stay with the Spanish giants if a condition is met
Barcelona will only be able to re-sign loan stars Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix for the 2024/25 season on similar temporary deals, a report has claimed.
Portuguese forward Felix swapped Atletico Madrid for Barca in the summer of 2023 alongside his national teammate Cancelo, who joined on loan from Manchester City. The pair settled into life at Barca immediately, featuring in both La Liga and the Champions League.
Barca maintained the narrative that they would aim to keep both Portugal internationals after their loan spells and may now have a way to do so, but only if all clubs involved agree to deals similar to those struck last year.
As per Mundo Deportivo, Barca will seek further loans for both players without any obligation to buy permanently. They will reject an obligation clause as they do not want to be forced into buying either player.
The Catalan club's poor finances heading into the summer transfer window makes the opportunity to purchase new players incredibly difficult unless they can part ways with some of their highest earners.
Barca are reported to be open to selling most of their first-team players aside from young stars like Pedri, Gavi and Lamine Yamal - talents they hope can bring glory back to the club in the future - in order to raise funds this summer.
Both Felix and Cancelo have admitted they do not want to return to their previous clubs, seeing the arrival of new manager Hansi Flick as an exciting opportunity at Barca.
Reports have claimed Cancelo is highly valued as a leader at Barca, having made a monumental impression during his time at the club. While Felix would be given a fresh opportunity despite still being contracted to Atletico until 2029, it is Barca where he believes he can develop best.
