Manchester City could only manage a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon as they twice came from behind at Selhurst Park.

The reigning Premier League champions were aiming to build on a much-needed victory against Nottingham Forest midweek but found themselves trailing their hosts within four minutes of the first whistle. More lackadaisical defending from Pep Guardiola's side was preyed upon by Palace as Daniel Munoz fired them into the lead.

Erling Haaland responded as he brought a three-game Premier League goalless run to an end with a well-taken header following Matheus Nunes' pinpoint cross. The reigning champions finished the half the stronger as they sought to close the gap on table toppers Liverpool.

Maxence Lacroix's header restored the lead for the Eagles shortly after half-time but Man City found another leveller just ten minutes later as Rico Lewis fired home from close range following an excellent move.

Lewis' afternoon was ended early as he saw red in the closing stages, sent off for a harsh second yellow card following a challenge on Trevoh Chalobah. However, the extra man proved inconsequential for Palace, who couldn't secure a late winner to pour more misery on Man City.

The Cityzens are now eight points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool after the postponement of the Merseyside derby earlier in the day.
