Dani Olmo has claimed he was unbothered by Barcelona's inability to register him to start the 2024/25 La Liga season.
After playing a crucial role in Spain's Euro 2024 triumph this summer, Olmo then secured a €60m move from RB Leipzig back to Barca, where he came through as a youngster.
However, Barcelona's precarious financial position meant they initially could not register the midfielder under La Liga's salary regulations, though an injury meant he was not fully fit to begin the new campaign regardless.
It was not until Manchester City-bound Ilkay Gundogan's wage was cleared from the books and confirmation of a long-term injury to Andreas Christensen that Barca were able to add Olmo to their official squad.
Olmo made his debut off the bench in Barcelona's 2-1 win away at Rayo Vallecano, scoring a late winner in the process. He then found the net in his first start - a 7-0 thrashing of Real Valladolid.
Speaking to the Spanish press, Olmo insisted he was not distracted by the registration saga.
"Personally, I didn't suffer because I knew it would be solved," he said. "I wanted to play, but it was a dream debut and that's what I’m left with."
Olmo also spoke on how he learned Barcelona were planning to step up their interest in him during Euro 2024 and how the move went through.
"In the final stretch [at Euro 2024] I knew that Barcelona were interested in signing me, but I didn't want to get distracted," he continued.
"Then I went on vacation for a week, and when I came back, we closed everything. It was very fast, and two weeks after the end of the European Championship, we had reached an agreement.
"I've always tried to give my best in all the teams and now at Barcelona we have the objective of winning. Whoever comes has to do it with a winning mentality; if not, they have the wrong club. I want to win with this club and that's why I’m here."
