The €60m (£51m) release clause written into the contact of RB Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo has officially expired, but he could still move this summer, according to reports.

The 26-year-old Spaniard has been playing in Germany for four years, gradually becoming one of the Bundesliga's most prominent players with a string of impressive performances.

But it was at Euro 2024 with Spain where Olmo really took his talent to the global stage, playing a key role as La Roja won the tournament for a record fourth time - three of those triumphs coming in the last five editions played.

Olmo has played his way onto the shortlist of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City, while Manchester United - who have acted early in the summer transfer window to sign Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee - have also been credited with an interest.

But even though all four have been impressed with what Olmo can bring to the table, no side showed a willingness to trigger the release clause in his RB Leipzig contract - meaning negotiations will now need to follow the conventional route.

However, Fabrizio Romano notes that Olmo will still be allowed to leave Leipzig if a proposal in the region of €60m is forthcoming - with a previous post suggesting the player's, and his representatives, good relationship with the club is a factor in their willingness to sell.

Leipzig are thought to recognise that a move to Barcelona, Bayern, City or United would represent a big leap in Olmo's career, though his camp have only held talks with the two clubs not based in the Premier League.

90min previously revealed that Barcelona had made a verbal offer to Leipzig, in the knowledge that they do not have the financial means to pay the full fee up front.

The Catalan giants' suggested payment plan has not yet been ruled out by Leipzig as they don't want to prevent Olmo from advancing his career - but they will hold firm and ask for a fee up front that allows them to reinvest in signings of their own.

Barcelona have made their desire to agree a deal clear to Olmo's agents, who made no secret of his desire to explore opportunities away from Leipzig prior to Euro 2024.

"Obviously it is good to see your name linked to great teams in Europe and the world, that motivates me," he told Mundo Deportivo. "It's nice to see your name linked to the greats, but I insist, it's nothing that bothers me. I am focused on the field and then whatever has to be, will be."

Bayern are thought to be prioritising moves for Xavi Simons, Olmo's former teammate at Leipzig, and Rennes' Desire Doue, but may have to shift players out of the exit door before they can follow up on the signings of Michael Olise, Joao Palhinha and Hiroki Ito.
