Norway international Elisabeth Terland has become Manchester United’s third signing of the summer transfer window as the club confirmed her arrival on Wednesday.

The striker makes the move to Manchester from WSL rivals Brighton & Hove Albion after two years on the south coast. The 23-year-old spent the early years of her senior career in her homeland with Bryne, Klepp and Brann before she signed for the Seagulls on a two-year deal in 2022.

Last season, she ended the campaign as the WSL’s joint second top scorer, level on 13 goals with Lauren James and eight behind golden boot winner Khadija Shaw. Terland established herself as one of the most clinical strikers in the English league and was a bright spark in what was otherwise a disappointing campaign for Brighton as they ended the season in ninth.

Terland has signed a two-year deal at United with the option of a further year. She follows former Wolfsburg defender Dominique Janssen through the door, as well as Melvine Malard, who returned to Manchester on a permanent deal last week following a successful loan spell in the 2023/24 season.

"I’m so honoured to sign for Manchester United and cannot wait to join up with the team," Terland told manutd.com. "Having experienced their excellent fans from the opposing side, I’m really looking forward to having them in my corner this season."

Manager Marc Skinner added: "Elisabeth is a young player who will bring a fresh dynamic and energy to our team. We are delighted she has chosen to become part of our Manchester United family and look forward to integrating her into our playing squad."

It’s another welcomed boost for United following the high-profile departures of goalkeeper Mary Earps and club captain Katie Zelem. Lucia Garcia also departed the club this summer following the expiry of her contract as she joined Monterrey in Mexico.
