Endrick avoided a sending off in Real Madrid's victory over Deportivo Alaves on Tuesday, despite protests from rival manager Luis Garcia Plaza.

Madrid extended their winning run to five games after securing a 3-2 win over Alaves, thanks to goals from Lucas Vazquez, Kylian Mbappe and Rodrygo.

However, one of the main talking points of the night was less positive, with controversy over whether teenage wonderkid Endrick should've been shown a red card.

The 18-year-old received a yellow card after striking defender Santiago Mourino with his knee, arguing that the Alaves man shoved him first.

He went into the book, but opposition manager Garcia Plaza was left in disbelief as to how the punishment was not more severe.

"It's a red card," the coach told reporters after the game.

"We should have played the last 10 minutes against 10 men. It's a clear red, nobody can say it wasn't. If the referee didn't see it, that's what the VAR is for. Maybe they got more yellows than they should have, but for for Endrick, it's a red."

Alaves scored twice in the last five minutes of the game to bring the score back to 3-2 and so the visitors may have mounted a more successful comeback against ten players.

Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti refused to comment on the incident after the game, saying: "I can't give my opinion, I didn't see it, and I haven't seen a replay."

Endrick has starred in seven Madrid games so far this season, registering a goal and an assist in La Liga as well as a Champions League goal. The Spanish giants are set to return to action on Sunday when they travel to rivals Atletico Madrid.
