Enzo Maresca insists Chelsea are 'not favourites' for clash with Tottenham
- Chelsea will travel to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday
- Blues enjoying strong start to 2024/25 campaign
- North Londoners have struggled to pick up results
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca does not believe his side are the favourites for Sunday evening's clash with Tottenham Hotspur, despite their better position in the Premier League table.
The Blues are set to travel to north London to face an 11th place Spurs side with a mixed bag of form in England's top flight. A 4-0 thrashing of Manchester City, a draw to Fulham and a 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth mark Tottenham's last three fixtures in the league - whereas Chelsea head into Sunday off the back of three successive wins.
Chelsea sit just behind Liverpool and Arsenal ahead of the London clash and will have the chance to leapfrog the Gunners with a victory.
However, Maresca does not think his side are the favourites for the clash, admitting that things can quickly change in the Premier League.
"We are not favourite, absolutely not," he told reporters. "They are playing European competition, like us, we are there. But not because we are second in the table, we are favourite - absolutely not.
‘I don't think we need Ange's [Postecoglou's] experience or Tottenham's experience to understand things can change quick. Every season in football, in England, in Spain, in Italy, every country, things can change quick.
"They have very good players and a very good manager. What kind of problems they have, I don't know. But they are a fantastic team. You see the results; two weeks ago they beat City, so they are a very good team."
Chelsea hope to pick up a result against Tottenham ahead of their next outing against Astana in the Conference League on Thursday.
