Manchester United are expected to strike a deal to hire goalkeeping coach Jelle ten Rouwelaar from Ajax just two months after he joined the Dutch side.

United are eyeing a shake-up of their backroom team this summer and, after tying manager Erik ten Hag down to a new contract, are working on deals for a number of new coaches.

Finding somebody to help out with goalkeeper training is key as most recent coach Richard Hartis has departed after five years at the club, leaving an integral vacancy behind him.

According to The Athletic, United have settled on Ten Rouwelaar, who only agreed to join Ajax two months ago.

Ten Rouwelaar was part of Vincent Kompany's staff at Burnley, having followed the former centre-back from Anderlecht, but left the Clarets upon Kompany's surprise switch to Bayern Munich this summer.

Coincidentally, Ten Rouwelaar spent time earlier in his career working under Mitchell van der Gaag, who is Ten Hag's current assistant manager.

Van der Gaag, however, is also expected to depart this summer as part of Ten Hag's reshuffle.

Legendary former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to take up a role alongside Ten Hag, who has also moved to recruit Go Ahead Eagles manager Rene Hake.

Higher up at Old Trafford, United have announced the signing of sporting director Dan Ashworth, while a short-term deal has also been struck to bring former Chelsea director Christopher Vivell in as a recruitment chief for the summer window.

Omar Berrada, the new CEO, is due to start at United later this month.
