Erik ten Hag says Manchester United will not be tempted into the transfer market to sign replacements for injured stars Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund.

The Red Devils struggled through the 2023/24 campaign with regular fitness issues limiting the players at Ten Hag's disposal, and their pre-season games over the summer have thrown up more blows.

New defensive signing Yoro is facing close to three months on the sidelines with a foot injury, while striker Hojlund won't return until after the September international break.

However, when quizzed about the impact of the duo's upcoming absence, the former Ajax boss insisted such injuries are to be expected.

Ten Hag said: "I'm waiting for this question, of course. But that's part of football - top football especially - that you come into a game, you go to the edge; every player has to go to the edge and yeah, then injuries are not avoidable. We have to be ready as a club and as a team to cover this and the players are dealing very well with this setback. They are very positive, they are already recovering and they will return."

Asked if replacements will be sought from the market, he added: "No. This will not change anything. We have a plan and we stick to the plan - and we will execute the plan, how we have that in our minds."

There have at least been more promising injury updates on forward pair Marcus Rashford and Antony, who both limped out of the friendly victory over Real Betis with suspected fitness blows. On Rashford, the Dutchman said he expects the England international to "progress quickly from this knock".

Elsewhere, United have been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, while a double bid for Bayern Munich's De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui has also been submitted.
