Erik ten Hag has insisted he is happy at Manchester United and has 'no doubts' he will still be at the club next season.

The Dutchman oversaw fine progress at Old Trafford during his debut 2022/23 campaign, ending the club's six-year wait for a trophy and securing an improbable third-place finish in the Premier League despite such a prospect seeming a long way off in pre-season.

United have failed to live up to expectations this season, however. They finished bottom of what seemed a favourable Champions League group alongside Bayern Munich, Copenhagen and Galatasaray, while they are unlikely to qualify for next year's competition after falling way off the pace in the Premier League.

Their most recent outing saw them surrender a 3-2 lead at Chelsea deep into added time, with goals from Cole Palmer in the 100th and 101st minutes securing a dramatic victory for the Blues.

Ten Hag's future has been called into question this year due to this poor run of form and the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe as a minority shareholder at the club but one in charge of footballing decisions.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Sunday's visit of rivals Liverpool, Ten Hag stressed he is planning on staying at United.

"I don't have any doubts," Ten Hag said. "I'm just focusing on my job, focusing on this process, in this project. I really love to be here, I'm enjoying it. For me it's a challenge."

He added: "It will not go always in the right way, it's not going always the results in the way we wanted but I'm sure we're in the right direction and we will get where we want to be."

Ten Hag won back some goodwill among fans with an enthralling 4-3 victory after extra-time against Liverpool last month in the FA Cup. He is unbeaten in his two home meetings with the Reds, chalking up his first win as United boss when they met in this fixture in August 2022, prevailing 2-1 on the night.
