Ex-Real Madrid star's agent opens up on potential Bernabeu return
- Miguel Gutierrez departed Real Madrid for Girona in 2022
- Left-back has excelled with Catalan over-performers
- 23-year-old has been linked with a return to the capital

Miguel Gutierrez's agent Daniel Mendez has stoked the flames of transfer speculation linking his client with a return to Real Madrid.
The left-back spent over a decade at the club's academy - La Fabrica - and readily featured for Real Madrid Castilla, the second team, even making ten appearances for the senior Los Blancos side prior to his departure.
But with no obvious route into the first team at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Gutierrez was forced to look elsewhere for game time, with Girona signing the defender at the beginning of the 2022/23 campaign.
The 23-year-old has gone on to dazzle with the Catalan outfit and has blossomed under the tutelage of Michel, even helping the club achieve surprise Champions League qualification for the 2024/25 season. He produced two goals and nine assists last term and already has eight goal contributions this campaign.
Naturally, Madrid have been touted with bringing the exciting youngster back to the capital, especially given they have a cut-price buy-back clause they can trigger. Gutierrez is expected cost Madrid just €9m this summer and €10m in 2026.
The defender's agent has now fuelled the fire after appearing on the Zona Mixtra Podcast. "We would love for Real Madrid to bring back Miguel," Mendez gushed. "Everyone knows his desire, but it doesn’t depend on him. If he returns, we’ll all be happy."
Madrid have been linked with several left-backs over the past year - including Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies - amid uncertainty over the future of Ferland Mendy, but the France international's new contract will keep him at the club until 2028.
Fran Garcia is Mendy's deputy at the Bernabeu and has largely impressed when called upon this season, with it appearing increasingly unlikely that Madrid will delve into the market for a new left-sided defender at the end of the season.
