4 of Liverpool's potential breakout stars of 2024/25 season
- Liverpool have several promising youngsters to look out for
- Trey Nyoni stood out during pre-season
- Academy graduates and emerging stars could become key players
Liverpool are set to enjoy an exciting 2024/25 season with new manager Arne Slot at the helm, and may rely on some younger stars to bring them success.
Slot had big boots to fill when he stepped up to replace Jurgen Klopp this summer, and so far his time with the Reds has been commendable. However, the Dutchman still has the Premier League campaign in front of him, and must impress against the big teams if he is to cement his place on Merseyside.
He may look to some of his youngsters to shine in the campaign, after impressive outings during the pre-season. Here are four potential breakout stars to watch out for ...
Trey Nyoni
17-year-old Trey Nyoni was one of Liverpool's most impressive stars during their 4-1 win over Sevilla in pre-season. The youngster impressed from the moment he arrived onto the pitch in the second half, and found the back of the net just minutes after.
His beautiful shot towards The Kop end marked his first senior goal for Liverpool - ensuring a bright future ahead for the Merseyside talent. He was one of the many Reds youngsters called upon by Jurgen Klopp last season - and became the club's youngest ever player to feature in the FA Cup.
The teenager is undoubtedly one of the most exciting prospects at Anfield, and this could be the season where he is given the chance to prosper.
Conor Bradley
After showing some of what he can do last season, Conor Bradley has said he is prepared to fight for Trent Alexander-Arnold's right-back position - and this will be the campaign to step up and prove it.
The 21-year-old made 11 appearances in the Premier League last season. But now, with Slot in charge, Bradley has a new opportunity to impress and push himself into the team's backline.
The Northern Ireland international is very talented, and given the chance to play in more of an advanced role under the new coach, he may also rack up goals and assists this season.
Stefan Bajcetic
Stefan Bajcetic began to establish himself as a first-team player during the 2022/23 season, but struggled to make an impact last term due to a long-term injury.
His rise was meteoric - playing in the club's youth sides before stepping up to the senior squad in 2022 aged 17. If the Spanish star is fit, he will have a huge role to play at Liverpool.
Bajcetic remains one of the only players that specialises in the 'number 6' role, meaning a spot in the starting lineup could be his if he is willing to work for it. Reports say that he has already impressed Slot, and if he keeps it up his spot within the team will be undeniable.
Harvey Elliott
While Harvey Eliott has already long broken into the senior squad and been given regular football at Liverpool, the 2024/25 season represents a new challenge for the 21-year-old, and he could transform into an even greater player under Slot.
He's still a youngster, but the development that Elliott has shown over the last few seasons has set him up for a spellbinding campaign now. When he is given the freedom to drift and play the ball how he deems right, Elliott can become a real playmaker - a crucial character in Slot's team.
Elliott could also get into the England squad soon, so will be desperate to impress on Merseyside.
