FROM TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR STADIUM - When Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham are good, they're very good.

Spurs chalked up their first win of the 2024/25 Premier League season on Saturday, hammering Everton 4-0 on home soil.

It was a complete performance from the north Londoners and there were plenty of positives to take, which was a welcome boost following Monday's disappointing draw at Leicester City.

Here's what 90min made of Saturday's performance...

1. Yves Bissouma's redemption arc begins with bang

The Yves Bissouma nitrous oxide saga threatened to sour the start to Spurs' season.

Ange Postecoglou reprimanded the midfielder by withdrawing him for selection against Leicester, and made it very clear how disappointed he was in one of the squad's senior figures.

There were lingering doubts over Bissouma's involvement against Everton, but he paid Postecoglou's faith back with his first goal in lilywhite, crashing in a fierce strike off the underside of the crossbar.

This was followed by a more secure midfield performance to boot. The perfect tonic after a troublesome fortnight.

2. Wilson Odobert swims on debut

It's been a whirlwind few days for Wilson Odobert.

His surprise move from Burnley came seemingly out of nowhere, and after missing the registration period to face Leicester was handed a first start here.

Postecoglou has maintained that sometimes it's best for new players and potential key pieces to start right away, so it was only a half-surprise that Odobert made his full debut at the first possible opportunity.

Spurs have been crying out for a winger who isn't scared to take anyone on, and the young Frenchman showed a hunger to do just that from the first few seconds, giving teenager Roman Dixon a roasting on his first senior start.

Odobert was on the same wavelength as James Maddison and Destiny Udogie down his flank, despite only knowing them little over a week. This is only the beginning.

3. The set-piece elephant in the room

Before we continue the praise of Tottenham, let's take a moment to reflect on the one negative of the afternoon.

In the ten-minute period before half-time, Everton put the hosts under some intense pressure, winning some easy free-kicks and corners, trying to replicate the dead-ball formula that earned them a point against Spurs in their last meeting.

It wasn't just that Tottenham made a hash of clearing these set pieces, it's they were making daft fouls in daft areas.

On this occasion, Spurs survived and worked hard to preserve the clean sheet. It's just they can't run from this problem forever.

4. Appreciate the extended greatness of Son Heung-min

Here's a list of players who have contributed to over 100 Premier League goals since the 2020/21 season:

- Mohamed Salah
- Son Heung-min

No one else.

After a so-so display at Leicester, the South Korean's doubters came out of the woodwork to declare the 32-year-old was in decline. Son, as he has done throughout his career, answered back in the best way possible.
