It's 'silly season' and you know what that means? We have plenty of silly transfer rumours to sink our teeth into.

This past week, we were blessed with astonishingly odd swap deals, clubs being linked with quadrupling their transfer record and Liverpool finally doing some business.

Here's our picks for the most outrageous transfer rumours of the last week.

Antony to Besiktas

The rumour

According to Turkish journalist Ertan Suzgun, Besiktas have tabled an offer to Manchester United winger Antony. The Brazilian is, however, keen to stay at Old Trafford despite the club being willing to offload him this summer.

Our take

The 'big name player linked with a move to the Turkish Super Lig' rumour belongs to Antony this week.

And while Man Utd being willing to sell Antony this summer doesn't surprise us, Besiktas' capacity to sign him would. It's hard to imagine the Brazil star's reported £43m price tag would be feasible for the Super Lig club - in fact, it would quadruple their previous record fee spent.

Jadon Sancho to Paris Saint-Germain

The rumour

Sports Zone in France are reporting that Jadon Sancho has reached an agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain, but the Ligue 1 giants have yet to meet United's £50m asking price.

Our take

Sancho has endured a rather tumultuous time with United thus far, but after making amends with Erik ten Hag and seeing his subsequent involvement in recent friendly games, it looks like he will be given another chance to impress at the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

90min also understands PSG are prioritising moves for the likes of Desire Doue and Victor Osimhen instead of one for Sancho.

Kepa Arrizabalaga - Andriy Lunin swap deal

The rumour

AS are reporting that Chelsea and Real Madrid are discussing a potential swap deal involving goalkeepers Kepa Arrizabalaga and Andriy Lunin.

Our take

This is a transfer rumour so ridiculous that we have to make a list of reasons why it's silly:

  1. Chelsea are on the cusp of signing Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal.
  2. There's zero point in Real Madrid swapping Lunin, who started ahead of Kepa last season, for Kepa, who warmed the bench behind Lunin while on loan last season.
  3. A straight swap doesn't add up financially, as Lunin is both better and younger than Kepa.

Luis Diaz to Barcelona

The rumour

According to El Nacional, Barcelona are interested in Luis Diaz as an alternative target to Nico Williams if they fail to secure the services of the Euro 2024 star. Diaz is valued at €60m by current club Liverpool.

Our take

So...here's the gist of this story:

Barcelona will target a player valued at €2m more than Williams would cost - his release clause is €58m - if they can't afford to sign the Athletic Club forward.

Make it make sense.

Arda Guler to Liverpool

The rumour

Turkish-Football are reporting that Liverpool have enquired about the availability of Arda Guler and are now preparing a formal bid.

Our take

Considering the lack of guaranteed game time on offer at Real Madrid, this would actually be quite a shrewd career move for Arda Guler, as he'd instantly become Liverpool's key offensive player.

That being said, it's hard to imagine Madrid sanctioning his sale this summer after his stunning Euro 2024 campaign. He's too bloody good.

David de Gea to Genoa

The rumour

Marca are reporting that David de Gea is set to sign a contract with Serie A side Genoa, bringing an end to his year-long hiatus from the game.

Our take

De Gea's contractual requests initially seemed set to scupper this deal, but after those were reportedly ironed out, the ex-United goalkeeper now looks set to sign for Genoa any day now.

It's an interesting move for the Spanish goalkeeper, who likely turned down hugely lucrative offers in Saudi Arabia in order to play his football in Europe next season.
