The 8 best players of Euro 2024 quarter-finals - ranked
- The best players of the Euro 2024 quarter-finals
- Bukayo Saka starred for England in victory over Switzerland
- Rodri and Fabian Ruiz continued to impress for Spain
The Euro 2024 quarter-finals proved to be every bit as dramatic and entertaining as we hoped they would be.
And they were so bloody entertaining because top players stood up and performed to extremely high levels for their countries.
As part of our 24 for 24 series, here's the eight best performing players of the Euro 2024 quarter-finals - ranked (obviously).
8. Mike Maignan
Mike Maignan is the best goalkeeper in the world.
That is a statement that, after watching France vs Portugal, most people will now agree with.
The France number one was unbeatable between the sticks in his side's eventual win, making four crucial stops.
7. Rodri
If you have Rodri in your team, chances are you're going to win basically every game of football you play.
Manchester City have done so in recent seasons with Rodri in their side, and Spain have done the same this summer.
The midfielder has been key to La Roja being the only nation to have won every single one of their games at Euro 2024 so far this summer, putting in yet another brilliant performance in the quarter-final victory over Germany.
6. Fabian Ruiz
Paris Saint-Germain fans are perhaps very confused by Fabian Ruiz becoming one of the best midfielders in the world during Euro 2024.
The 28-year-old has looked like Luka Modric 2.0 at times for Spain, and one of those times was during their win over Germany in which he performed defensive and offensive duties with equal brilliance.
5. William Saliba
It's fairly crazy to think that, pre-tournament, William Saliba wasn't even really expected to start for France at Euro 2024.
A few weeks later, and it's fair to say he's comfortably been his nation's best player.
The towering centre-back was as commanding as ever in the win over Portugal, pocketing a pretty haggard-looking Cristiano Ronaldo with ease.
4. Lamine Yamal
Yep, Lamine Yamal is still 16 years old.
Yep, he's still making playing at a major tournament while doing his exams look like a walk in the park.
Yep, he's still contributing with assists despite facing off against some of the best players in the world.
Yep, it's ridiculous.
3. Stefan de Vrij
Although Premier League fans were perhaps surprised by Ronald Koeman's decision to start Stefan de Vrij ahead of Micky van de Ven at Euro 2024, the manager's decision was vindicated in the win over Turkey.
De Vrij popped up with a crucial goal in the game to send the Dutch on their way to their first international tournament semi-final in a decade.
2. Bukayo Saka
To be perfectly honest, Bukayo Saka's Euro 2024 form had been rather disappointing up until this past weekend.
And then he proceeded to put in perhaps his best performance ever in an England shirt in the quarter-finals.
With the Three Lions on the brink of elimination, Saka pulled out a moment of real quality to scored an equaliser late in the game. He then went on to score his penalty in the shoot-out too. A great day at the office all round.
1. Dani Olmo
When Pedri hobbled off injured, it seemed like the beginning of the end for Spain at Euro 2024.
And then Dani Olmo came on, scored a goal and set up the 119th-minute winner.
The RB Leipzig star was remarkably good in the win over Germany, and Spain fans will be confident he can do the same in the semi-final against France.
