Liverpool are set to make Federico Chiesa their second signing of the post-Jurgen Klopp era.
The Reds have reached an agreement with Juventus to acquire the versatile forward, who will sign a four-year contract at Anfield.
With a move to Anfield all but done, it's time to start envisaging Chiesa wearing one of those famous red shirts. But which number will be displayed on the back?
Here are the digits Chiesa could take on Merseyside, as well as a look at his history of shirt numbers.
Federico Chiesa shirt number history
Buckle up, buckaroos - it's time to track the wild ride of Chiesa's shirt number history.
During his days in the Fiorentina youth setup, a budding Chiesa initially took on 23. After that, he had stints donning 7, 11, 21 and 36 over the next two years. Listen, I don't make the rules on Italian shirt numbers, I am simply the messenger.
Chiesa also wore 36 when he first made his breakthrough in Fiorentina's senior team, before switching and sticking to 25 in 2016 for the remainder of his time with La Viola.
During his initial two-year loan at Juventus, Chiesa was handed the number 22. He was then given 7 once his move from Fiorentina was made permanent in 2022.
Chiesa's time in the Italy national setup was similarly haphazard from a number perspective at first before finally settling down on a preferred shirt. At youth level, he was given the range of 7, 10, 11, 14 and 20.
But with the senior Azzurri team, Chiesa has almost exclusively worn 14, though had adorned 22 and 25 in the relatively distant past.
Shirt numbers available at Liverpool
If we are to assume, then, that Chiesa's favoured numbers are 7 and 14, then he is in luck as the latter is currently vacant at Liverpool. 14 was last worn by former club captain Jordan Henderson prior to his move to Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq in 2023, though Luis Diaz is currently in possession of the number 7.
The number 6 is the lowest shirt available in the Reds dressing room at this moment, with 12, 13, 15 and 16 also on offer.
Beyond that, 23, 24, 25, 27, 28 and 29 are vacant for the moment. Ryan Gravenberch's 38 is the only number in the thirties taken by a first-team player.
