The FA Cup interrupted the Premier League season once again last weekend but the full-throttle action returned on Wednesday evening.
Everton and Liverpool played out a blockbuster Merseyside derby that ended with a last-gasp equaliser and fisticuffs galore in the final edition of the fixture at Goodison Park. The bar has been set pretty high for the upcoming gameweek.
This weekend's duels should deliver more chaos and tension, with an increasingly rare instalment of Friday night football getting us underway. Seven battles follow on Saturday before Liverpool and Manchester United take to the field on Sunday.
Here are 90min's predictions for Gameweek 25 in the Premier League.
Friday 14 February
You have to rewind just six days to witness the most recent meeting between Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea, with the two sides locking horns in the FA Cup last weekend. It was the Seagulls who triumphed in the world's oldest cup competition as Kaoru Mitoma's second-half strike earned them their fifth-round berth.
It proved another testing evening for Chelsea amid their 2025 struggles and Enzo Maresca will be desperate for revenge this Friday. The Blues will guarantee their place in the top four for another week should they taste victory on the south coast.
Kick-off time (GMT) | Fixture | Prediction |

20:00 | Brighton vs Chelsea | 2-1 |
Arsenal will have watched on gleefully as Liverpool dropped points during their game-in-hand midweek, but the Gunners have their own worries heading into Gameweek 25. Kai Havertz is the latest long-term injury in their forward line and Mikel Arteta will have to get creative with his team selection against struggling Leicester City on Saturday lunchtime.
Manchester City vs Newcastle United is one of the most high-profile blackout kick-offs that you won't be able to see this season as fifth hosts sixth. Both sides are competing for Champions League qualification and the Magpies will be aiming to plunge their hosts further into crisis by handing them a fourth Etihad Stadium defeat of the campaign. Pep Guardiola will have one eye on his side's European second leg with Real Madrid next Wednesday.
It still boggles the mind that Nottingham Forest are currently perched above the reigning Premier League champions but Nuno Espirito Santo's over-performers are showing no signs of slowing down. They visit Fulham knowing that victory will move them on to the 50-point mark for the campaign and only seven off league leaders Liverpool.
Aston Villa and Bournemouth are in the hunt for Champions League qualification, too. Both are facing relegation favourites this weekend, with Ipswich Town travelling to Villa Park and Southampton hosting the in-form Cherries.
Graham Potter has offered encouragement at the beginning of his West Ham United reign and he will be aiming to capitalise on a weekend of rest when the Irons host fellow Londoners Brentford. The Bees were also able to relax after their surprise FA Cup exit to Plymouth Argyle - although that looks less catastrophic after the Championship outfit beat Liverpool in the competition's fourth round.
The day's late kick-off is unlikely to get pulses racing, unless Everton can conjure up another batch of drama. There may be weary legs in the Toffees' camp after their midweek excursion but confidence will be sky-high for the trip to Crystal Palace. The Eagles are in fine form themselves with five wins from their last six in all competitions.
Kick-off time (GMT) | Fixture | Prediction |
---|---|---|
12:30 | Leicester vs Arsenal | 0-1 |
15:00 | Aston Villa vs Ipswich | 3-1 |
15:00 | Fulham vs Nottingham Forest | 1-2 |
15:00 | Man City vs Newcastle | 2-2 |
15:00 | Southampton vs Bournemouth | 0-3 |
15:00 | West Ham vs Brentford | 1-1 |
17:30 | Crystal Palace vs Everton | 1-1 |
Sunday 16 February
Liverpool will be without midfielder Curtis Jones for Sunday's clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers - potentially alongside Arne Slot and his assistant Sipke Hulshoff - after the trio were shown red cards after the final whistle at Goodison. That will add an unwanted element of uncertainty to a must-win fixture against the Old Gold, who have now won back-to-back matches against Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers.
The Reds' Premier League lead could have been slashed to just four points before they kick off at Anfield depending on Arsenal's result at Leicester. Any slip-up against Wolves would leave the Anfield faithful filled with trepidation ahead of next weekend's trip to Man City.
It's staggering that Tottenham Hotspur vs Man Utd is a battle between 14th and 13th. The Premier League's most underwhelming performers of the current campaign will meet in north London and not even Derren Brown would be capable of predicting what might happen. Both sides are disjointed, low on confidence and utterly inconsistent, but it should be a joyous watch for the neutral with goals all but guaranteed.
Kick-off time (GMT) | Fixture | Prediction |
---|---|---|
14:00 | Liverpool vs Wolves | 2-0 |
16:30 | Tottenham vs Man Utd | 3-2 |
