3 Euro 2024 stars Liverpool should sign
- Liverpool appointed Arne Slot as Jurgen Klopp's replacement as manager
- The Dutchman will want to put his stamp on the Reds squad
- Three Euro 2024 stars Slot could go out and sign this summer
Jurgen Klopp's departure and Arne Slot's subsequent arrival as the club's new manager have seen Liverpool enter a new era.
Perhaps much to the relief of the incoming Slot, Klopp was kind enough to leave him a squad full of top-class players in basically every position.
However, as with any squad, there's still some room for improvement.
Here's three Euro 2024 stars Liverpool should make a move for this summer to challenge Manchester City's supremacy atop of the Premier League table.
1. Martin Zubimendi
Spain fans probably feared the worst when Rodri hobbled off injured at half-time during the Euro 2024 final.
However, despite losing their best player for the second 45 minutes, Spain actually went out and won the game. A key reason for that was the wonderful performance of Rodri's deputy Martin Zubimendi.
The 25-year-old showed incredible poise after being introduced surprisingly early, completing 92% of his passes and winning all five of his duels.
Having struggled to nail down a definitive midfield three since Liverpool's mass overhaul last summer, another high-quality addition is perhaps needed in the centre of the park.
And with Zubimendi being available for around £50m this summer, the Euros winner could be the perfect man for the job. The 25-year-old would provide Liverpool with a much-needed bit of control in the heart of their team - the sort of control they've perhaps been missing since Thiago Alcantara's injuries took their toll.
2. Xavi Simons
Dutch? Check.
Young? Check.
Immensely talented? Check.
Xavi Simons ticks a lot of boxes for Arne Slot at Liverpool.
The dynamic attacking midfielder would provide the Reds with a bit of extra creative guile in the offensive third and, having netted ten goals for RB Leipzig last season, a genuine goal threat, too.
The youngster is amazingly also likely to be available on loan this summer, making it a low risk but potentially high reward option for the Reds.
3. Marc Guehi
There's one thing that should be at the top of Liverpool's shopping list this summer: a centre-back.
With Joel Matip leaving, Ibrahima Konate struggling for form and Virgil van Dijk entering the twilight years of his career, the Reds are in dire need of a new top-class defender to lead their backline into the future.
That defender probably should be Marc Guehi.
As well as continuously impressing for Crystal Palace at club level, Guehi took his game to another level at Euro 2024, earning a spot in 90min's team of the tournament as a result.
He'd be an expensive signing, but he'd no doubt be worth the monetary outlay.
