Liverpool have been blessed with incredible attacking talent throughout their incredibly history, particularly in recent years.

The Reds' attacking trident of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane was the envy of most Premier League supporters, and their brilliance played a major role in the club ending their 30-year wait for a 19th top flight crown.

Jurgen Klopp, of course, had plenty to do with it too, as he was the manager in charge when Salah and Mane arrived - Firmino was a signing of his predecessor Brendan Rodgers. The German knew, however, that the time would come to shake things up, and in 2020 he began preparing Liverpool's frontline to transition into a new era.

Diogo Jota arrived from Wolves, to the tune of £41m, and he was joined two years later by Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, whose arrivals coincided with the exit of Mane to Bayern Munich. 12 months later it was Firmino's turn to say goodbye to Liverpool - a move the club amply prepared for by signing Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023. Salah has remained the only constant.

Klopp's eye for attacking talent was and is obvious - each player is fantastic in their own way - but the abundance of options still at new manager Arne Slot's disposal does beg the question. How do they all fit in?

Some believe that Liverpool need Salah, Jota, Diaz, Nunez and Gakpo to cope with the demands of modern day footballing schedules, while others think that such depth blocks the pathway for young academy graduates to break through and make a name for themselves in the first team.

Liverpool's current crop, which includes Jayden Danns, have suggested they've got enough quality to be of use to Slot, stepping into the breach during 2023/24 when the club were enduring an injury nightmare up front.

To get to the bottom of what to do next, 90min conducted a poll in our dedicated Liverpool fan WhatsApp channel (link to follow down below) to ask which forward they would be prepared to sacrifice if the club looked to make a sale.

Diaz has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona in recent weeks, while Nunez has also been tentatively tipped to leave Anfield – though it must be said there's been few credible stories to suggest an exit is forthcoming. Jota and Gakpo were also included in the poll, with Salah the only player left out - his obvious importance, and status as a club legend, rendering him an indispensable member of the squad.

Of the over 30,000 votes surveyed at the time of writing, Diaz was the player picked by 51.7% to be sold if Liverpool decided it was time for a change. That was over 9,000 votes, almost 28% higher, more than the number received by chaotic forward Nunez, who is primarily a central striker for the club but has also been known to drift out wide left.

Gakpo and Jota would appear to have tremendous support within Liverpool's fanbase, with both polling just 12.3% of the vote at a shade over 4,000. Both will have strong claims to be Slot's first choice left winger come the new season, though Gakpo's ability through the middle does mean both could line up in Liverpool's strongest team.
